That was the school of thought in times past, but the parts have proven differently.
Anything that restricts the air from moving hurts spool and overall power.
Everything that removes restriction helps spool and overall power.
Removing the restrictions has not causes a trade off, it helps the whole power band.The green run is a stock turbo car with all the large breather mods and full 3inch exhaust with our Expansion downpipes. (This is Adams car)
The Blue run was the best stock turbo car we ever saw with stock intercooler pipes, Greddy intercoolers,full 2.5" exhaust, and dual pops. (This is WXY, Mike Homer's car)
Both are on race fuel running max boost. 
Can you show me anywhere where the smaller stuff shined?
The reason WXY is not showing boost is because it was before the dyno was ours and this dyno did not use to have a boost sensor.
